WHO Needs $31.3 Billion Of Funding To Fight Against The Coronavirus Pandemic

The whole world is currently witnessing one of the deadliest and worst types of diseases in the form of the COVID-19 virus. It has killed more than lakhs of people globally, spreading at a speedy rate in various parts of the country. A new report from WHO foundations say they need more than $31.3 billion of immediate funding to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. They need this funding to develop vaccines, testing, and deliver the required treatment to those who need it. The global collaboration around the world from private sectors has given WHO $3.4 billion of findings, but it’s quite low as compared to their estimate. There is still a massive number of $27.9 billion, which needs to be filled.

WHO, since the coronavirus pandemic started, has been in the news for various reasons. Whether it’s Trump’s allegation not to disclose full facts about how China created this deadly virus, and the US stopping the much-needed funding to WHO. However, now the situation has quite become hard for WHO since they are working on development, funding also the distribution of vaccines to cure coronavirus. The initiative which WHO is organizing has the objective of delivering more than 500 million tests globally and also provides 245 million courses of new treatments to those who need it.

WHO said they are planning to deliver more than 2 billion vaccine doses out which half will be given to low income generating countries. Still, the executives of WHO think they need a considerable amount of “urgent” funding to fight against COVID-19. The economy is getting slowed down, and people are losing their lives to earn some money during the pandemic situation. Collaboration from various private organizations is much required for the WHO to survive in the COVID-19 phase.
