The world of portable storage has been amazing users for the past decades, during which you could integrate almost 1TB of storage to compatible device. Now, SanDisk is getting rid of that ‘almost’ by unveiling the first microSDXC card with 1TB of storage capacity. Just to get some context, 1TB was a capacity that only HDD & SSD devices could offer a few years back. Of course, there are constraints related to this.

First of all, the microSDXC card from SanDisk would not be affordable for even the premium customers. The product would cost $449.99 at maximum, despite the ultra-small size it has. It’s powered by the brand-new proprietary fast flash technology by Western Digital and can offer awesome transmission speeds. As per the announcements, the device should be offering 160MB/s of read speed and 90MB/s of write speeds.

So, when you spend almost $500 get a high-capacity microSDXC card, it won’t make you wait for minutes in a potential scenario. Considering that many smartphones now have compatibility with high-end microSDXC cards, the product from SanDisk looks quite promising. In addition to the 1TB version, SanDisk would also be launching a 512GB variant, which comes with a lower price tag of $199.99.

While the product is not available in the market right now, customers can pre-order the brand-new card via the official website of SanDisk. It will be delivered in April. “The new SanDisk Extreme card will also be available in 512GB* capacity, and will feature the A2 specification3 for launching and loading apps at blazing speeds,” reads the official press release from the manufacturer.

It was quite recently that Samsung announced the 1TB version of its flagship device Samsung Galaxy S10. In light of the new announcement from SanDisk, it’s clear that people can store hundreds of movies along with other content on their smartphones now.
