She, Amélia is a single mother. She delivered the baby-girl Sara while she was clinging to the branches of the mango tree along with her 2-year-old son. This family was rescued by the neighbors after two days. These floods and cyclone may have killed about 700 people. Many bodies were seen lying in the roadside. Thousands of survivors are still missing and half of them are supposed to be children. These calamities are considered to be the worst in the last two decades.
In between all this, Amélia delivered a baby in the tree. Amélia said that she and her 2-year-old son were at home when all of a sudden water started entering inside the house. She said that she cried, she screamed and felt terrible. She couldn’t even understand if the pain was due to hunger or because the baby was coming.
Sofia said that many people lost almost everything in those floods but she gained her daughter. Rosita told the news sources that the government had promised about scholarships but everything was unfulfilled. She said that all her studies were being financed by her mother and no funds were received by the government. She said that the government built a house for them but it is not in good condition at all. She said that whenever there are rains, the housetop leaks.
