Android apps could soon be accessed on a desktop computer. Microsoft is making this a reality. The company has announced that Windows 11 will come with Android apps support. It has already signed a contract with Amazon. Amazon will provide the support to Microsoft to launch Android apps on desktop via the Amazon App Store. Microsoft said that the Android apps will be installed locally. The apps will show up in the Start menu and Taskbar. It will not require a smartphone to function to access the apps. Microsoft will use Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 to power the apps. Users will be able to discover the apps in the Microsoft Store. Microsoft said that it has also launched a new Microsoft Store app. The store will act as an open storefront for Android apps on Windows.

Microsoft has been working for a long time to bring Android apps to the desktop. The latest deal will pave the way for the launch of Android apps on the desktop. Meanwhile, the company has also invited iMessage to Windows 11. iMessage is an instant messaging service by iPhone maker Apple. It is exclusively available on Apple’s platforms. If Apple accepts Microsoft’s invite, it will join the Microsoft Store. It will be a game-changer for both companies. Microsoft is optimistic that developers will introduce Windows support for the apps. The company said that it is open to multiple marketplaces. Its CEO Satya Nadella said that Microsoft wants to have a great marketplace and it also welcomes other marketplaces.

Microsoft also said that Windows 11 offer a more natural way to users to connect through Teams. Users will get new options to mute and unmute instantly, or start presenting directly from the taskbar. Windows 11 is the next-gen desktop operating system by Microsoft. It will succeed Windows 10. The company will start rolling out the new OS this summer holidays. The OS will come with a free upgrade, meaning Windows 10 users can shift to the new OS for free. Starting January 1 next year, all new laptops will come with Windows 11. The company has emphasized security. Laptops will require a front-facing camera and that a resolution of High-Definition.
