Alexa smart speakers are getting smarter day by day with the introduction of the new features. From now on, the UK based users of Alexa Smart Speakers can use the voice assistant to call anyone from the contacts list. The feature is now rolled out in the United Kingdom. The users can assign a primary contact number to the Amazon account and synchronize the contacts list. The synchronized contacts list can be used to activate the voice assistant and call the contacts with a single voice command. The feature is already available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from a long time.
With this feature, the users can call friends and family members while sitting on the couch without touching the smartphone. This is a convenient feature brought for the UK based customers of Alexa Smart speaker devices. Amazon has partnered with Vodafone to provide additional features to the users of Vodafone Red service. With the Vodafone Red’s OneNumber service, the Alexa will announce the name of the person in the incoming call. The Alexa speaker will ring first and then announce who is calling you if the number is saved in the Contacts list. If the number is unknown, then the speaker will ring to let you know about the incoming call.
The Vodafone Red service subscribers will get additional features. If the smartphone of the user is switched off due to battery drain, then the Alexa Speaker will still receive the call for you. Also, you can call from the speaker even if the smartphone is not with you or switched off. Also, the users with multiple Alexa speakers in the home can assign a particular device to become the primary speaker, so when you want to receive or make a call, all of the speakers won’t activate at the same time.
