At a time when devices like smartphones, laptops, and Television sets have become an integral part of our life, would it possible to stay away from all of them for 24 hours. This is what a company wants to find out and is willing to pay a handsome amount for this. Reviews.org said that it would give USD 2,400 as a reward to those who will stay away from these devices for 24 hours. The company has decided to host a “24-Hour Digital Detox Challenge.” Those who want to accept the challenge will have to ditch all the devices for 24 hours and share their experience. The company, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, offers buyers guides, brand comparisons, research on devices, and other home products.
The company in its announcement said that anyone who is 18 years old or above and is eligible to work in the United States can participate in the challenge. It said that the name of the challengers will be announced on its YouTube channel on March 29. “Are you tired of watching old sitcoms and bored of scrolling on your smartphone? Are you among those who always wanted to be the winner of reality competitions but have been too busy playing Mortal Kombat and Mario Kart instead?” Participants will be given two weeks to decide on the challenge. They will then have to pick a day that suits them to complete the task.
The company said that participants can spend their day as they want but they will have to agree not to use computers, cell phones, gaming devices, TV, smartwatches, or any other wearable technology. According to the company, the participants are allowed to use microwaves and cooking appliances as they want. To pass the time, participants will get a USD 200 Amazon gift card. This will provide them a tech-free survival kit. At the end of the challenge, participants will have to submit their screen time reports. The challenge comes at a time when there has been a surge in screen time amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a report, an average person in the US spends around 56 hours watching TV and check their smartphones once every nine minutes.
